In this focused, one-hour tasting workshop, we’ll guide you through a side-by-side single blind comparison of three wines at different sweetness levels: up to 30 g/L, up to 100 g/L, and up to 200 g/L residual sugar. You’ll learn how to detect sweetness on the palate, why winemakers use residual sugar, how it interacts with acidity, alcohol, and body, and the styles and classifications that surround it.

By the end, you’ll feel confident identifying sweetness levels in wine, an essential skill for blind tasting success and for anyone who wants to better understand balance and structure in what they’re drinking.

Once you join, you’ll receive access to purchase a limited-quantity Tasting Kit featuring the three wines with varying levels of RS that we’ll taste together:

A wine with up to 30 g/L residual sugar
A wine with up to 100 g/L residual sugar

In the workshop, we’ll taste all three wines as a single blind and break down how to recognize different levels of sweetness, from slightly perceptible hints to weighty syrupy richness, PLUS how to tune into the influence of residual sugar on acidity, body, texture, and overall balance.
